![]() Acromark | Hot StampingHot stamping is a dry printing process in which a metallic or pigment color is transferred to a substrate by means of temperature and pressure. Preprinted images, called "Heat Transfer/Digital Heat Transferss", provide the means for applying multiple colors in a single stamping operation. Both the single colored "foils" and multi-colored transfers are supplied as a continuous film in roll form. These rolls have extended shelf life stability and the use of these dry foils allows for quick and easy color changes in a decorating operation. Color is released from the carrier films through the application of controlled heat and pressure. For single color applications of discreet images, a metal or silicone rubber die is created from black and white artwork. These dies can be flat or contoured to match specific part requirements. Full surface coverage can be achieved through the use of machines equipped with heated silicone rollers. Peripheral marking is also achieved with either rollers or flat dies, through the use of specially designed machines. The hot stamping process is clean, dry, and fast with permanent bonding achieved immediately upon application to the part. There are none of the problems involving inks or solvents as are associated with various wet ink printing processes. Hot stamping is used on such common applications as greeting cards and book covers, TV cabinets and kitchen appliances, cosmetic packaging, writing instruments, toys, and beverage crates. From simple gold "leaf" personalization to the application of a four color process reproduction of a photograph, hot stamping is a cost efficient decorating technique that is easy to set up, clean to operate, and capable of producing products that will last for years. It will also create a profit center for your business that may ordinarily be overlooked in the manufacturing environment of today's economy.
